Requirements
- Tool Management:
- Oversee the inventory, storage, and maintenance of all tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and molds used in the production process.
- Ensure proper calibration, cleanliness, and readiness of tools to meet production requirements.
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule to ensure minimal downtime.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead, train, and supervise a team of tool room technicians and operators to ensure high performance and adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Assign tasks and ensure that production schedules are met without compromising on quality or safety.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities.
- Tool Design & Improvement:
- Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to design, modify, and improve tools and equipment to enhance production efficiency and quality.
- Review blueprints and technical drawings to ensure tools and equipment are appropriate for the production processes.
- Process Optimization:
- Monitor and assess tool performance and recommend improvements to reduce wear and tear, increase tool life, and improve product quality.
- Implement best practices for tool handling, storage, and disposal to minimize waste and reduce costs.
- Inventory Control:
- Maintain accurate records of tool usage, repairs, and replacements.
- Order new tools, equipment, and parts as required, ensuring adequate stock levels and reducing downtime.
- Manage tool budgets and ensure cost-effective procurement and usage.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure the tool room and all related operations comply with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits, training sessions, and inspections to minimize workplace hazards.
- Stay up-to-date with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Certification in Tooling or Machining Technology (advantageous).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in tool room management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role in the automotive or manufacturing industry.
- Hands-on experience with the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of tools and production equipment.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, tool design, and automotive manufacturing techniques.
- Skills:
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using CAD software, ERP systems, and MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality.
